October 2009

A friend recently posted this to her Facebook page and I love it. And so I decided to pass on the goodness to those who want to giggle and maybe stop to think the next time you go off your head about how right you are and how wrong the rest of the world is. It also gives me an excuse to take a break from studying, as the German searches for monitor mounts for the flat screens he wants to buy, I am studying this weekend for my very first exam. John Cleese is much more fun!

We just returned from our weekend camping trip in Heidelberg, where there was a Horizon´s Unlimited meeting for motorcycle travelers. (And a fair number who also travel by RV and motorcycle, as there seems to be a little more room and less need for rv repair than motorcycle repair on the road, or so they say. :P ) Either way it was a great time, I was terrified it was going to be really cold and wet, and instead it was warm and sunny, with the rain happening after we went to bed. Which was perfect because our tent was water proof. :P Just a fantastic weekend. I never took many photos however, as the ones from last year could have been from this year, we even camped at the exact same end of the field.

One thing you will find when you stay any length of time in Germany is that they really love to dress up. My very first party was an international party, and so I wore my Chinese dress thinking that I was suppose to dress nice. The Germans made me put on tiger slippers because I looked out of place without something ridiculous around me.

So mooma, just like acne products, dressing up for parties is something one is never too old for in this country! It is actively encouraged and the more ridiculous the better. :P

Oh how I miss my mother´s Blue Advantage plan. As of the age of 30 the public health care system refuses to take in students, UNLESS you were already in the system to begin with. Fair enough my mother´s plan only covered me until I was 25 and as a student. HOWEVER, Im pretty sure most Canadian universities then allow students in on their own plans. In fact I know they do, because the grad health care plan was compulsory at my old university for anyone who did not have their own plan. Like me. (Well I have private, but I want public, because its cheaper).

Having said that, Germany still gets major kudos for not charging me international student fees, letting me drop what little tuition there actually is because I have 2 or more siblings, and for letting international students under the age of 30 into the public system.

30

What a dirty number.

I have my B1 German exam tomorrow, as luck would have it my head is pounding and my throat is raw. However the thought of postponing it (especially with university starting next week) is enough to make me weep. So I am struggling to study, and considering that even on good days I need adhd medication to focus, well lets just say I have yet to do much work. But then I did find this great video on a friends facebook page (click on it to watch it):

giggle!

I am back in Taekwondo next week (this week we are moving, have moved, but in such a way that everything is out, and now dumped unceremoniously throughout the apartment so that every morning we are 20 minutes looking for the keys. Bets on when we kill each other?) and therefore hope to be better behaved in reference to my eating habits, as much as I scribble on here about the best weight loss pills and wanting to keep the weigh off again, I ate a whole box of fruit loops for supper the other night because I was home alone and couldn’t be bothered to cook. And there is something so wonderfully delicious about toxic artificial colors deep fried and liberally dusted with sugar.

Hmmmmmmm yuuuuum

I just received an email from a friend making a reference about my feminism, and naturally she had me pegged perfectly and made me laugh out loud. Well I am so feminist that when Ubuntu does whatever it does, and every 2 or 3 months forgets the password to the internet, I am internetless until the German returns and is able to tell me what this password is. Lucky for me I have this laptop that I can use for internet period. But his has all the pictures. Because I am independent like that. Hrrrrrrr, I even make him help me with the online program I have for inventory software, not because I need inventory but because it helps me keep track of my billing and value added tax that the government so likes to collect from me.

So now I need to go hunt and see if I can find a cord for the camera to get some more pictures up, but given that it currently looks like my living room threw up, I doubt I will find a cord. Im lucky I find my shoes every morning…..

Till then enjoy a puppy on the beach in Greece.
