September 2009

As mentioned the pictures are uploading at a painstakingly slow pace. And so the pictures from the first night in Italy require time. I want to put the pictures here however to show you just what kind of situation it was. Sadly we must wait. Instead I will set the scene.

We had arrived from Dresden at 10 am, (half an hour late because some girl somehow ended up on the plane to Stuttgart by accident. Yes, by accident. She was sitting there, the plane was about to take off, weve been welcomed to the flight to STUTGART, and she dings the stewardess and in a panic explains she is SUPPOSE to be on the plane to Frankfurt. This in an of itself is bad enough, but then she burys her head in head, exclaims “Oh man, this is the second time this has happened to me!!”)

Ok, maybe it was the airlines fault for not properly checking her ticket, but wouldn´t you really have checked yourself if you have a tendency to board wrong planes at what would seem to be no longer random. More important, would you not then keep that information to yourself?

Maybe it is just me…..

Anyway, point being, since I had mentioned weight loss supplements, my bet with my father was in fact not won through the use of them. Instead it has all been through Taekwondo. What does this have to do with anything?

Well, after getting up at 6, flying, then 2 hours of Patrick driving from Germany to Switzerland, then 10 hours of me following him in his car while he drove his dads motorcycle, and you have a very tired girl in Italy. Who then flaunted her weight loss techniques. Who was then challenged to a roundhouse kick challenge on doorhandles, and then offered to try and smack my dad in the face.

I got in the lip.

Thank god mom threw open the door just as he looked at me and said “You hit me in the lip”.

Ah yes, the element of surprise.

Needless to say the challenge was over. :P

I have no pics of Italy, or me in my uniform, but I do have my friend in half of it from my 30th Bday party.

Enjoy!

I NEED to get the pictures up from our trip, but sadly our Internet connection in the new apartment is SUPER slow. And so the pictures need about 10 minutes PER picture to go up. And so it is going to be a while, even with screening and filtering there are about a 1000 pictures. Of course I will not subject to each and every picture. They go up over on Flickr, and I suspect even my most dedicated stalker won´t be bothered. (ok, my one stalker). BUT in order to put them in here, I put them over on Flickr first, which means that while people are home curled up with their electric blankets because Newfoundland already had their first frost, you wont be haunted by pictures of us on the beack in Greece last week in 30 plus degrees temperatures just yet.

Just yet that is. :P

I honestly thought that the thought of a bikini in Cuba was enough to make me lose weight. It wasn´t. I still wore them, and was perfectly happy with the the “pleasantly plump” me. Hell, with enough Pina Coladas anything and everything was right with the world. So the thought of being surrounded by Kelli and all her skinny bridesmaids was not enough to send me running for weight loss supplement, what other motivation possibly could?

A bet with my father.

Wa ha, 20 pounds gone in 2 months, no worries over a bikini involved. 3 weeks with the man and I weighed myself at the gym, 6 back.

Not for long my friend!

I am about to go AWOL again for a couple of days without having posted any of the pics from the past 2 weeks. My parents trip to Europe is coming to an end, but what better way to end it then taking your daughter to Greece for her belated 30th birthday. Seriously, if that is what happens when you turn 30 it really was not such a bad thing! My brother however turned traitor and instead went to Vegas with his wife. (hee hee I have a sister in law, it feels weird to write that!). Now my parents are talking mutiny as well and looking into Las Vegas travel deals for next year. Europe may be biyearly instead. Not fair!

… to use your parents as pack mules??? Because between having breakouts like a 14 year old and a new found addiction to Sephora for some of the best acne treatments I ever had, I am blissed that I was able to send 2 whole shipments to my parents and have them take them over to me. Even Prague has a sephora!!!! (Albeit a little one that was really disapointing unlike the floors and floors you find in Barcelona.) Germany, or at least Stuttgart, has nada.

sniff.

We were stuck in traffic on the way home today (as in over an hour not even moving, ever watch the faces of people stuck in cars for long periods of time?, its hilarious) and so I had hoped to get the first half of the trip up on Flickr, and the reduced version over on Facebook. That is not about to happen. However you can actually see my transition from before the goodies from home had arrived and after the goodies arrived. I think the 20 pounds I lost I regained. (Ice cream every night in Italy did not help, however do I regret it? Not a freaking second. Ill follow a link for best weight loss supplements and then spend the next 2 weeks yo yo dieting instead.) We are talking about MORE PC decadent chunk cookies, AND real Italian ice cream.

Blisssssss

I have retrived my parents with success and rejoined the rank of backpacker/car vacationer. The first week we hit Dresden by cheap flight (I know what that means for the environment, but only once cant be so bad) and then Prauge by train, both with our backpacks, to give my parents that experience of backpacking through Europe they missed when young. ;-) And then we drove to Italy for a couple of days as an upgrade. Lots of pictures to come (with stories, promise). Saturday we take off for Greece! And then I send them home. And yet it makes me miss a little the motorcycle. Travel is always fun, but with the bike its even more so. You are a modern day cowboy. And for those who still ride, there is equestrian apparel, where you are not just a modern day cowboy, but you get to control a live animal, which I found out in April, is actually harder than I thought.

They may be few and far in between, but they have not been abandoned or forgotten about! But they are done in Andi´s free time, and considering that there was no pre planned story board, or any budget at all to speak of, he continues to do a fantastic job. And the fact that it was all filmed on our little digital camera with natural outdoor lighting. There literally was nothing extra other than a tiny tri pod that Patrick carted around with him. Anyway, hope you enjoy, I plan to subject my parents to it when they arrive in 2 days!!! Excitment!
